    Together Towards Efficient Buildings & Appliances in the Mediterranean 
    The meetMED Week (MMW) is the largest annual event of the 2nd phase of the meetMED project (Mitigation Enabling Energy Transition in the Mediterranean region), funded by the European Union, which is dedicated to fostering regional cooperation for energy and climate transition in Southern Eastern  Mediterranean Countries.

    With the objective of contributing to energy and climate transition in Southern Neighbourhood, through a multiscale, multipartner, inclusive approach, meetMED II activities aim at developing a more stable, efficient, competitive, and climate-resilient socio-economic environment in Southern Mediterranean Countries.

    In this context, high-level events known as the meetMED Weeks, will take place once a year for three years in different countries.

    The meetMED Week will become a flagship event for the entire Mediterranean basin as an ideal place for a high-level political dialogue where policymakers and the most relevant stakeholders will convene to exchange experiences and discuss the next steps for the decarbonization of the region. The series of events focuses on:

    • The first “meetMED Week: was organised in a hybrid format, from March 28th – 31st, 2022 in Cairo, Egypt. It gathered more than 14 organizations and 100 energy experts representing the South and North Shore of the Mediterranean and led to the formulation of Key Messages, focused on how to accelerate the implementation of harmonised EE and RE measures.
    • The Second meetMED Week (May 2023): will go furhter in developing demo actions, policy reviews, and recommendations on harmonization and enforcement;
    • The Third meetMed Week (March 2024): will focus on the delivering final reports and outputs of the project.

    This year, the second edition of meetMED Week (09-11 May 2023) will be held in Marrakesh, Morocco, as a hybrid event, aiming at promoting the commitment of national stakeholders and authorities in the objectives of the meetMED II project.

  • 07/05/2023 - 6th IEEE International Conference on Renewable Energies for Developing Countries

    The 6th International Conference on Renewable Energy in Developing Countries REDEC 2023 will be held in Zouk Mosbeh – Lebanon. It focuses on both theory and applications related to renewable energy. During the previous REDEC conferences held in Morocco, participants from across the globe gathered, discussed and presented innovative and adequate scientific solutions for engineering problems related to energy saving and production. A variety of new topics is added to REDEC 2023 to give a chance to a wider range of participants to present their work in the domain of renewable energy and related research.

  • 25/01/2024 - Seminar "Used Batteries Management in Lebanese Municipalities"

    The Lebanese Association for Energy Saving and for Environment (ALMEE) organized a seminar titled "Collection and Recycling of Used Batteries in Lebanese Municipalities" with the support of the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME) at the Municipal Palace in Zahle - Bekaa on January 25, 2024.

    The subject, which has not yet turned into a crisis, as the Lebanese market has recently opened up to solar energy equipment, poses a temporary threat to Lebanese communities, with potential explosive consequences in their midst, unless swift and appropriate solutions are found to initiate the proper collection and recycling of used batteries.

    Participants in this seminar included George Akl, the head of the Environmental Ministry department in Bekaa, and mayors and members of municipalities: Zahle - Maalaka and Taanayel, the Union of Middle Bekaa Municipalities, Bouwerij, Hay Al-Fekani, Deir El Ghazal, Ain Kfarzabad, Qab Elias, Wadi El Dalem, Massa, Majdal Anjar, Al-Mryejat, Deir El Harf, Ras El Metn, and Al-Kaa. In addition, individuals from the Lebanese University and the press also participated.
