OVERVIEW

About the Project

MED-ALGAE aims to enhance regional and cross-border collaboration for the development of a new generation of biofuels from microalgae. It addresses the growing need for alternative fuels to replace petroleum products and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Microalgae offer higher oil yield than conventional crops, making them a promising feedstock for biodiesel production. The project contributes to the European Commission’s Climate Change and Energy Package.

Project Objectives

Develop biodiesel production from microalgae cultivation. Enhance regional and cross-border collaboration on next-generation biofuels. Reduce dependence on petroleum-based fuels. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions through renewable fuel production. Contribute to the EU Climate Change and Energy Package targets.
