OVERVIEW

About the Project

Lebanon’s energy sector faces unprecedented challenges, from chronic grid instability to economic constraints, highlighting the need for a decentralized, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition. The TESSA project has worked over several months to empower municipalities, private sector actors, academia, and civil society through stakeholder dialogue, policy review, and demonstration of best practices.

A key focus has been the operationalization of Law 318/2023 on distributed renewable energy and the promotion of energy communities as dual engines of sustainability and local job creation.

Through research, stakeholder engagement, case studies, and national roundtables, and under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and Water in Lebanon, the project contributed to policy dialogue around Law 318/2023.

Project Objectives

This project aimed to facilitate Lebanon’s transition to cleaner energy systems, fostering inclusive economic growth and promoting sustainability. It engaged a range of stakeholders to address critical policy gaps, share best practices, and develop actionable guidelines for energy sector reform. This effort aligns with SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy) and SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth).
